Vision’s business partner, HP have produced an entertaining short video in efforts to raise awareness of security risks facing businesses and highlights how corporate networks can be hacked through their printers and how it can be prevented. Its opening statement “There are hundreds of millions of business printers in the world, less than 2% of them are secure” reinforces the importance of the potential threat to businesses.
In a recent Spiceworks study only 18% of IT professionals surveyed considered printers to be medium or high risk for security threats or breaches. Christian Slater shows printers are not immune from a cyber-attack, signifying the need to create awareness of securing printers.
Christian Slater also demonstrates how simple it is for a hacker to access your business’ data. First through your printers, then network and then the data. It relaying a clear message “the importance of a secure network and that includes the networked printing devices.”
